A Bit About Therapy

Collaborative, Client-Centered Treatment

You won't find a foot-long list of specialties and every theoretical orientation under the sun listed on my site. I believe in collaborating with my clients to find treatment goals that work for them, where they are- even those who are mandated into treatment. I help my clients recognize when behavior and habits have become harmful and develop an awareness of the big picture that's been driving them. To determine the best approach for each client- I ask the expert, the client themself.  I help clients build on what's already working for them to identify new solutions and approaches to the challenges that brought them to my door- or Zoom room.

Individual Therapy

A Happier, Healthier You

While all of my clients receive customized and individual counseling, my individual clients receive even more. From processing trauma to developing healthier ways of interacting with others, individual treatment is all about you and your needs. My style is very direct and present-focused, designed to help clients move forward and accomplish their unique goals. I am experienced help with a wide variety of concerns, but have particular experience in the areas of substance use, recovering from toxic relationships and narcissistic abuse, anger management, and working with chronic pain patients. Due to the current pandemic, the majority of my sessions are conducted via telehealth at this time.

Anger Management

Develop a  Healthy Relationship With Anger

Anger is one of the most basic, yet misunderstood emotions we experience as humans. At times, it can feel as if our anger controls us rather than us controlling it. I specialize in helping clients learn to identify, regulate, and express their anger in a healthy manner- teaching them to take back their control.  I also work to help discover and address any underlying causes of emotional regulation difficulties such as trauma.

Mandated & Court Evaluations

Significant Experience Working Within the Judicial System

Frequently, a mental health and substance abuse evaluation is recommended by an attorney, probation officer, or other persons involved within the judicial system. These evaluations are often complex and require specialized knowledge to determine the best use of collateral information, standardized measures, and more to make the needed recommendations. I work closely with all involved parties to create robust, thorough reports in a timely manner.

Clinical Supervision

Licensure and Practicum Supervision

For over 10 years, I've helped train the clinicians of tomorrow from a variety of social work and mental health-related disciplines. I have supervised students from an extensive variety of schools including the University of Florida, University of Maryland, Stevenson University, University of Denver, Catholic University, Edinborough University, George Mason University, and more. I'm pleased to offer both licensure and practicum/internship supervision for students in the Baltimore metro area and remotely in other locations as appropriate. Reach out today to see how we can work together.

Group Treatment

Helping Clients Grow With Each Other

Facilitating group treatment is one of my favorite parts of my job because I am constantly inspired and impressed with watching clients help each other change and grow. I currently offer groups on various topics in English and Spanish, primarily focused on substance use and anger management.
